The Walking Dead‘s showrunner Scott Gimple will join Fear the Walking Dead as an executive producer in the show’s fourth season.

Gimple took the reigns as showrunner on The Walking Dead in its fourth season back in 2014. Since, Gimple has created some of the most epic conversations for fans but never more than the buzz which followed the Season 6 finale. The showrunner has followed Robert Kirkman’s source material in The Walking Dead comics more accurately than either of the showrunners which came before him.

This news follows the word that showrunner Dave Erickson will depart Fear the Walking Dead following its third season. Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have joined the series to co-showrun in Erickson’s place.

This isn’t the start of a connection in the dots between The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead‘s stories. Gale Anne Hurd and Greg Nicotero, executive producers of The Walking Dead, have also served the same role on Fear since its earliest episodes.

“We’re very excited to continue the journey of Fear The Walking Dead, and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott Gimple,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV.
