Season 7 has been a mixed bag for The Walking Dead. The series, still one of the most-watched on television, saw a steep declines in the numbers after an epic premiere was crushed with a wave of negative buzz and bad press after one of the most violent and controversial episodes ever to air. It rebounded over the second half of the year and will go into the finale with a lot of momentum.

In Episode 7×15 (Something They Need), the Saviors had caught Sasha and locked her away in the cell which was once reserved for Daryl. After a couple of encounters with Saviors, Eugene, and Negan, one particular conversation set the stage for an explosive Season 7 finale.

Negan approached Sasha and told her that “a little birdie” told him Rick was up to no good. While there are several credible theories about the surprising characters who may have approached Negan regarding Rick’s new plans, the little birdie may have actually been right there in that cell.

That conversation — plus Sonequa Martin-Green soon-to-be starring role on Star Trek: Discovery — most every fan of The Walking Dead expects Sasha to meet her maker in the finale.

There are thoughts that perhaps Gregory, Eugene, Dwight, or Morgan, among others, may also meet their maker in the episode.

The Hollywood Reporter asked members of the cast and crew to summarize their reactions to the finale in three words and most all took the chance to set up suspense.

Scott M. Gimple (showrunner): “Everything, everything, everything.”

Robert Kirkman (creator/exec producer): “I’m not sorry.”

Dave Alpert (exec producer): “Oh daaaaa-mnnnnnnnn!”

Greg Nicotero (exec producer): “Best. Episode. Ever!”

Melissa McBride (Carol): “They did that?!”

Lauren Cohan (Maggie): “Light through cracks.”

Tom Payne (Jesus): “Roller-coaster, tear-jerker and heart-warming.”

Ross Marquand (Aaron): “Dark, bloody and terrifying.”

One actor that didn’t chime in was Andrew Lincoln, who obviously stars as Rick Grimes.

Lincoln did, however, recently give fans a glimpse into one potential scene from the finale. If this scene happens, you can bet that the season will end with audiences jumping up and down and cheering with excitement.

During an interview with LA Times, Lincoln was talking about the difficulties of filming this past season. After revealing how difficult many of the scenes were, a deal with Scott Gimple seemed to keep his spirits up.

“All through shooting the season, I kept telling Scott, ‘As long as you give me a Henry V-St. Crispin’s Day speech at some point in the future, I’ll take it.’ So that will be coming. There’s your spoiler.”

If you’re not familiar, Henry V gave the infamous St. Crispin’s Day speech in the classic Shakespeare play. Before leading the battered English army to war against France, Henry V addressed his men. The speech is regarded as one of the best in history, and it succeeded in breathing life, as well as hope, into the lives of every soldier on the battlefield.

If Rick is delivering this type of speech, it means war has arrived. It also means that Alexandria feels like they can finally defeat Negan. If this speech is delivered at the very end of the episode, there’s no doubt fans will leave season seven with a much different mood than they began it with.
