The hidden references and teases of what’s to come may be considered spoilers to some so we’ve put them on additional slides as to offer a fair warning.
Easter Eggs in the form of references to Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics are nothing new for the AMC series. Quite often, the team behind the live-action adaptation recreates scenes as word for word representations of what went down in the comics. Of course, the TV series also takes liberties to deviate from the comic books at the same time.
The following slides reveal both references to the comics and moments which don’t exist on the pages but will play a major role in Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead.
Mild spoilers follow.
Little Pig
In the preview for Service, Negan makes his very first trip to Alexandria. Certainly, he is arriving to pick up all of his new stuff.
Upon walking up to the gate, the menace knocks on the gates of the Safe-Zone with Lucille and follows the act up with dialogue ripped straight from the pages of the Kirkman’s comics.
“Little pig, little pig! Let me in,” Negan said.
The line is one of the most iconic from The Walking Dead comics, however, it was not originally delivered by Negan on the pages. Instead, Derek delivered the line to Alexandria in issue #78. He was the leader of a group refered to as the D.C. Scavengers. The closest television comparison to the group has been the Wolves.
Of course, Derek’s group was quickly dispatched after their attempted raid on Alexandria. Negan will find much more success.
Later on, Negan echoed the words of Derek as he arrived at Alexandria for the first time in issue #103 which appears to be what we are seeing in The Walking Dead episode 7×03.ย

Daryl’s Homecoming
After an unclear amount of time trapped in a cell at Negan’s Sanctuary, Daryl will be making his trip home to Alexandria with the Saviors.
In the background of a shot which sees Saviors invading the Safe-Zone, Daryl Dixon is in the background standing in place.ย
Whether or not Daryl has been broken and returns to Alexandria as a loyal servant of the Saviors is to be seen but highly unlikely. Then again, Daryl does not exist in The Walking Dead comics, making his future nearly impossible to predict.
Also a mystery is whether or not Daryl will be allowed to stay in Alexandria or remain a trophy of Negan’s after he collects his new stuff from Rick’s group.
