If you were sad to see Daryl being locked up, tortured, and ignored over the last few weeks, you just might be in luck. If the note he received at the end of ‘Sing Me A Song’ is any indication, Daryl could be home free by the mid-season finale.
Towards the end of the episode, after Negan had already left for Alexandria, Daryl was seen back in his cell. He was being punished for talking out against Negan, and he had to get locked up once again. While there was no ‘Easy Street’ this time, Daryl did have a new surprise under his door.
A note, with a match and a key was slid into Daryl’s cell, and the message was gone from the screen about as quickly as it appeared. If you didn’t get the chance to read it, have no fear.
Daryl’s note said, “GO NOW”.
Daryl was given the tools to escape Sanctuary, and Negan being gone provided him with the perfect opportunity. Whoever gave him the note knows that he has one chance to leave, and they’re going to do everything they can to make sure he makes it.
So, who gave Daryl the note? It had to have been one of two people.
First, and what many will speculate, is that Sherry is helping break Daryl out. It’s clear she doesn’t like what’s being done to Daryl, and that she hates how things went between them the last time they met. If there’s anyone living in Sanctuary that would be willing to help Daryl, it’s Sherry.
The other option here, is that Jesus has made his way to Daryl’s cell. Jesus was last scene at the gates of Sanctuary, but he had disappeared once Negan and Carl left. If Dwight was taking Daryl to his cell, and Jesus heard the exchange, it’s very likely that he followed the men inside.
Either way, Daryl has finally been given a way out. Will he take it? Or does he think this is another one of Negan’s tests?
