Morales rode off into the sunset in Season 1. Heath disappeared earlier this year. And, now, Sherry appears have gone off the the great missing characters from the zombie apocalypse place in the sky, too.

In Episode 7×11, Hostiles and Calamities, it ws revealed that Sherry freed Daryl Dixon from his Sanctuary confinement before dipping out, herself. When Dwight found a note from his ex-wife at their pre-apocalypse home, she told him that she had to run in order to preserve her own life, partially out of fear of what he would do to her or allow Negan to do to her. Like the audience, she doesn’t think she will fare well out in this harsh world on her own but she’s up for the challenge anyway.

Sherry’s fate might not be the most important storyline at the moment but it’s one which fans hope to see resolved at some point. Those fans are not alone. Sherry actress Christine Evangelista tells TV Guide that she also wants to know what happened to her character.

“I’m just as curious as you are to see where she’s gonna go,” Evangelista said. “I can’t even imagine what Negan would do if he tracks her down. She got away once. I don’t think it’s going to happen a second time.”

Of course, Dwight ultimately covered up Sherry’s escape, halting Negan’s search for her.

In the comics, Sherry has only just begun to become a hugely important character. In the wake of the Whisperer War story, Alexandria has become completely overrun by zombies, leaving Rick and Negan trapped in a room where they have been forced to trust each other and work together. Meanwhile, Sherry is lurking in the background at the Sanctuary, ready to strike Alexandria with the remaining Saviors and take over. No one is sure if this is a plan in place involving Negan or one the character thought up on her own but it’s an important element of what would be Season 10-12 of the AMC series.

With only four episodes remaining in The Walking Dead‘s seventh season, it may very well be Season 8 before we see Sherry again, if ever.
