The BBC has released the first trailer for the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special.

The episode, titled “Twice Upon A Time,” will be Peter Capaldi’s last as the Doctor. He’ll be joined by David Bradley as the First Doctor (played originally by William Hartnell. Mark Gatiss guest stars and Pearl Mackie is confirmed to return as companion Bill Potts for the final time.

In “Twice Upon A Time,” the Twelfth Doctor comes face to face with his past in his final adventure.

Peter Capaldi took over as The Doctor in Season 8, after Matt Smith’s departure. After three seasons, he will depart the show alongside showrunner Steven Moffat, who has steered the series since Season 5. Moffat was a breakout writer during the Russell T. Davies seasons of Doctor Who.

Moffat will be handing the reins over to Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall for Doctor Who Season 11. Chibnall is a longtime Doctor Who fans who also wrote for the series during the Russell T. Davies era and was head writer on the Doctor Who spinoff series Torchwood.

Jodie Whitaker will become the Thirteenth Doctor and the first female to play the lead role on Doctor Who.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special 2017 airs Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC America.
