Gen V Season 2 deepens the spinoff’s ties to The Boys, including the return of several actors and characters from its parent show. The show’s Godolkin University setting provides enough separation from the ongoing storylines of the main show, allowing it to still feel like its own unique entity. At the same time, it’s very much a part of the same world, and events in one show can and do have consequences on the other, something that was apparent from Gen V Season 1 and The Boys Season 4.

In the former, we saw several characters from The Boys turn up at God U, including Homelander (Antony Starr), Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), and Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie). Similarly, Gen V Supes Cate Dunlap and Sam Riodan were used by the Seven in The Boys Season 4. With Gen V Season 2 taking place between that and Season 5, then it’s no surprise there are even more of those connections, with multiple characters appearing in the first three episodes and several more already confirmed by marketing for the show.
6) Starlight

Starlight (or Annie) regained her powers at the end of The Boys Season 4 and, while the rest of the group was captured, she was able to escape and is now on the run, leading a rebellion against Homelander. We see some support for her with the followers known as the Starlighters in Gen V Season 2, whom Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) helps defend from some other Supes. Then, Starlight herself (Erin Moriarty) turns up to help Marie against the bounty-hunting Dogknott.
As well as some superpowered action, Annie tells Marie that they need her back at God U to help uncover the secret of something called “Project Odessa.” That was first mentioned in The Boys Season 4, and it seemingly has some connection to Marie’s origins as well. It remains to be seen just how involved Starlight will be but, given she’s on the run, her support will inevitably have to be rather sporadic.
5) The Deep

Chace Crawford’s The Deep reaffirmed his loyalty to Homelander in The Boys Season 4, but it’s a loyalty of a different kind that brings him into Gen V Season 2’s story: his fraternity. He’s the most celebrated member of it and is there for the new pledges as school begins again. It’s a pretty minor role for someone who is a major antagonist in The Boys, but it fits well with his immature personality and how he’s so often been treated as a bit of a joke character.
4) Firecracker

Firecracker (Valorie Curry) was only introduced in the fourth season of The Boys, but her presence continues to be felt here. She’s the one Supe from the show who doesn’t directly appear in person, but instead can be seen hosting her show, Truthbomb. This comes in Gen V Season 2, Episode 2, wherein she reveals that the Starlighters who attacked Cate have been caught by Dogknott. That, of course, is all a cover-up of the truth, but it furthers Firecracker’s role in Homelander’s agenda, pushing anti-human sentiment among those with abilities.
3) Sister Sage

Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) doesn’t appear in the first few episodes of Gen V Season 2, but was confirmed in one of the trailers for the show. The character was a huge new addition to The Boys in its most recent outing, and one of its most powerful Supes yet. She may not possess physical powers, but her unrivaled intellect makes her a major threat to anyone, and a key part of Homelander’s bid for control as they plot together.
That looks like continuing in Gen V, as she’s seen receiving a call from Homelander himself, which presumably means she’ll be continuing to develop their schemes and look to extend their influence over God U.
2) Black Noir

Black Noir II (Nathan Mitchell), the new version of the Seven member, debuted last year and is back in action once again, as revealed by Gen V‘s marketing. This take has a bit of a different personality, as evidenced by the brief shot we do get of him, which shows him taking a selfie after, it appears, taking out Polarity in a fight. His presence further supports the idea of Homelander looking to control things at the school, and sending one of the more deadly members of the Seven to do it.
1) Stan Edgar

Finally, there’s Giancarlo Esposito’s Stan Edgar, the former CEO of Vought, who is now actively looking to take down Homelander. He’s another who was only very briefly glimpsed in a trailer, so there’s little context for what his appearance will entail. However, given his objectives, it’s likely he’ll be, like Starlight, lending some support to Gen V‘s Supes as Season 2 progresses and the threats posed become even bigger, which will then presumably tie more into the events of The Boys Season 5 and the fight against Homelander.
Gen V Season 2, Episodes 1-3 are now streaming on Prime Video. New episodes will release weekly on Wednesdays.
