HBO Max just took a major hit to kick off the Fall as it has lost some major Adult Swim classic shows. HBO Max has been going through quite a few changes in the past year as not only was it renamed HBO Max earlier this Summer, but there have been a number of notable franchises and projects that have been removed from the streaming service in that time since. A lot of these removals seemed to have focused on children’s media like many of the Cartoon Network classic shows, but the latest batch of removals is going to sting for adult animation fans too.

With the start of September bringing in a whole new wave of shows and movies to the platform, HBO Max has also removed a few key offerings as well. The latest batch of removals includes three of Adult Swim’s classic shows, Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, and Superjail!. Two of these shows are some of Adult Swim’s very first offerings, and Superjail! is a fan favorite that fans are hoping to see return someday. But these removals now makes it much harder to revisit them.
Is It Possible to Watch These Adult Swim Classics Now?

Unfortunately with HBO Max removing Sealab 2021, The Brak Show and Superjail! in the United States, it’s now much harder to stream these three classic shows if you wanted to revisit them. Sealab 2021 has a few select episodes that can be watched with Adult Swim’s official website (many of which require a cable subscription), but unfortunately the only way to get the full series now is to purchase it digitally through platforms like Apple TV and Prime Video. It’s the same case for The Brak Show, with even fewer episodes being available completely for free.
Superjail! seems to have the most free episodes to see without a cable subscription on Adult Swim’s website, but fans in the United States will need to purchase the series digitally following this removal. The series still remains on a few international versions of HBO Max as of this time, so you might want to double check it in your particular area. But it’s a shame for these classic Adult Swim shows as both Sealab 2021 and The Brak Show were two of the very first programs to ever air with adult animation block. But there’s always possibility that they’ll end up on a different streaming service someday even after this removal.
What’s Going On With HBO Max?

It’s been a tough time to be an animation fan with HBO Max, and that has been especially true this Summer. This latest wave of removals comes after much of Cartoon Network’s own library of classics have been taken off the streaming service. Courage the Cowardly Dog was notably taken down from the service not long ago, and it was the final show older than 2010 to be streaming with the service. But as of this time, it’s no longer available to legally stream at all without a digital purchase.
It’s not all doom and gloom yet, however, as many of the classic Cartoon Network shows have since popped up on other streaming services like Hulu. It’s entirely possible that it could be the same case here with these three Adult Swim shows as projects like Metalocalypse had previously made the jump, but it’s just unclear as to whether or not this is going to happen for these three classics or when it would be possible.
