No, not FP Jones; he started the episode in jail, but by the time everyone huddled around Jughead’s laptop to watch a gun being fired, it was pretty clear it wastn’t him.

What we learned instead was that the Blossom family was responsible for Jason’s death. The video proved that it was Clifford Blossom who pulled the trigger, leading to her confronting him at the family dinner table.

Next week’s season 1 finale will delve into some of the reasons why, but producers have also intimated that while audiences will know who killed Jason Blossom by the end of the show’s first season, the full backstory and reason why won’t be explored until season 2, since it will inform other elements of the story.

The series kicked off at the start of a new school year, where the introduction of Veronica to the school might be the thing that has everyone talking — if not for the mysterious death of Jason Blossom, the twin brother of Cheryl. While Cheryl tries not to let the cracks in her armor show, other characters — particularly Archie and his teacher Mrs. Grundy — have their own secrets to keep, which may cause big problems for everyone down the line.

Riverdale stars Apa as Archie, Sprouse as Jughead, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camilla Mendes as Veronica Lodge, and Luke Perry as Archie’s father Fred Andrews, among others. The series’ showrunner is Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Archie Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer and the writer of Afterlife With Archie, the publisher’s wildly popular zombie series.
