The episode begins with Jughead, musing about how different routine and order feels in the event of chaos. This cuts between the gang going about their various school rituals, and the gang throwing a wild party.

Fred walks in on Archie and Jughead playing video games. He apologizes for missing Jughead’s birthday the upcoming weekend, but Jughead says he doesn’t like to celebrate it anyway.
Fred asks Archie to come downstairs. He explains to Archie that the divorce between him and Archie’s mom should be finalized by the end of the week, and that he’s going out of town to meet with Archie’s mom. Archie asks if the pair can still fix their marriage. Fred is uncertain.
Veronica is met by Hermione, as well as Hiram’s attorney. The attorney asks for Veronica to make a statement during the trial about her father’s character. She insists that she still won’t, and leaves.
In the student lounge, Archie and Betty tell Veronica what Archie overheard about Clifford having helped send Hiram to prison.
Archie tells Betty about Jughead’s upcoming birthday, and the plans that he usually makes. Betty suggests that Archie join in on the plans.
Betty calls FP and asks if he wants to attend the double feature with her and Jughead. FP says no, and that Jughead has never had a birthday.
At lunch, Betty suggests that the gang throw Jughead a birthday party. Kevin and Archie are against it, but Veronica is on board.
Suddenly, Chuck Clayton arrives in the cafeteria, back from his suspension. Betty storms over to him, finding him sitting with Ethel. She confronts Chuck, but he and Ethel both say that they are fine. Betty composes herself and heads back to the lunch table. She opens her hands and realizes that her fingernails have dug into her hands. She changes the subject back to Jughead’s party, and Archie offers to host it at his house.
Betty meets with FP in Fred’s trailer, and invites him to Jughead’s surprise party.
Alice meets Betty, telling her that she’s now signed on as the Blue and Gold’s adviser. They then talk about Jughead, and whether or not Betty is revealing too much about herself in her relationship with him.
Archie and Jughead talk about his birthday, and Archie reveals that Betty is coming along to the movie marathon. Jughead gets hesitant, saying that his birthday always brings back bad memories.
Veronica pours through paperwork about Lodge Industries. She discovers a monthly payment between the Blossom and Lodge companies – which has lasted for over 75 years. Hermione worries that this will implicate Hiram in Jason’s murder, so they should keep this news a secret.
Cheryl and Veronica argue about routines during cheer practice. They decide to have a dance-off to determine who should lead the routine. Veronica wins the consensus of the other River Vixens. The team leaves, but Cheryl stops her minions and chastises them for not supporting her.
Archie prepares for Jughead’s party. He gets a phone call from Fred. Afterwards, Archie finds the family liquor cabinet.
Cheryl enters Pop’s. She offers to team up with Chuck to bring Betty and Veronica down.
Veronica explains her theory about Clifford and Hiram to Hiram’s attorney. The attorney hands Veronica a letter from Hiram, which tells Veronica that she needs to testify – in part because Hermione isn’t entirely innocent.
Jughead asks Betty about her confrontation with Chuck the day before. She brushes it off, and asks why she had to hear about his birthday from Archie instead of him.
Veronica arrives at the gang prepares for Jughead’s party. Kevin introduces her to Joaquin. Veronica pulls Kevin aside and tells her about the drama from her parents. Betty and Jughead arrive, and the group surprise them. Jughead gets hesitant about the festivities. Betty brings Jughead a cake and sings to him.
Veronica walks away from the group, crying. Archie comforts her and offers her a drink. They share their problems with each other and hug.
Betty and Jughead enter, and Betty realizes that Jughead doesn’t want the party. The pair argue, before they hear a ring at the door. Cheryl, Chuck, Moose, and a bunch of other kids from school enter with kegs.
The kids dance at the party.
Archie comes in on Jughead sitting in the shed. They argue about the party. FP arrives with a present for Jughead. Jughead asks FP if Betty invited him, and he says yes.
Kevin and Joaquin kiss. FP walks in and says hi to Joaquin. They walk through the party.
Veronica recognizes FP as the man her mom was speaking to. She asks Kevin about it, and she’s surprised to discover that FP is Jughead’s dad.
Betty cleans up the party. She notices Chuck and politely asks him to leave. Chuck says that Betty ruined her life by getting him suspended. He then says that he thinks about the dark Betty that he saw the night in the hot tub. Betty slaps him and walks away.
In Archie’s room, FP and Joaquin talk about what they’ve discovered from the party. FP reveals that he and Hiram has business in the past. They walk away, but not before Alice spots them through Betty’s window.
Jughead and Betty argue about the party. Jughead tells her that this type of party is the last thing he would want, which is an indication that they’re both completely different people. Jughead believes that Betty considers him to be one of her passion projects – possibly until Archie changes his mind.
Archie meets with Valerie. He tries to reconcile with her, but she’s against it, and splashes him in the face with her drink. Embarassed, Archie makes his way to his room, and calls Fred.
Jughead tries to leave the party, but he gets stopped along the way. Cheryl and Chuck stop him and suggest that the party play a game – Secrets and Sins.
Cheryl explains the game, and suggest Veronica go first. She reveals that Hiram bought the drive-in. Veronica then suggests that Cheryl killed Jason, because he was sick of their relationship.
Dilton Doiley goes next, and reveals what he knows about Archie and Grundy’s affair.
Chuck begins to reveal what he knows about Betty’s dark personality. FP punches Chuck, and FP intervenes, kicking Chuck out of the house. FP pulls Jughead aside and tells him to go inside and talk to Betty, but Jughead says that it’s done. FP convinces him to go inside.
Alice confronts FP, asking him what he’s doing in town. FP says that Alice will never quite shed her Serpent ways.
Betty and Jughead sit in Pop’s. Betty shows Jughead the cuts on her hand, and the pair make up.
Archie and Veronica talk about their parents’ drama, and wonder what things would’ve been like if they’d done things differently – like Archie leaving Riverdale with his mom. Archie claims that he’s messed up, but Veronica reassures him that he’s not. The pair begin to kiss.
Veronica wakes up the next day in Archie’s bedroom, and finds him sitting on the inflatable matress. She goes over to him and kisses him on the cheek.
Veronica goes downstairs, and finds Jughead. The pair smile and she leaves.
Back at her apartment, Veronica asks Smithers what he thinks of her parents. He says that Hermione is genuinely good, even though Hiram might not be.
Veronica arrives at the attorney’s office, and offers to testify for her parents.
Archie cleans up the party while Jughead eats breakfast. Archie gets a call from Fred, but he ignores it. Jughead asks about Archie and Veronica, and then agrees to keep it a secret.
Alice offers Betty some tea. Alice asks about FP and Joaquin being at the party, and Betty tells her that Kevin and Joaquin are dating.
Betty offers Veronica breakfast. She explains how bad she feels about testifying on her father’s behalf, because she believes that Hiram might have hired FP to kill Jason. She offers to help Betty with her crusade.
Veronica arrives at her apartment and receives a package from Smithers. It’s a new string of pearls from Hiram.
Fred and Archie’s mom arrive at the Andrews house, to Archie’s surprise.
