Star Wars’ New Villain Is Even More Powerful Than Yoda, Palpatine & Vader

The greatest threat to Star Wars‘ galaxy has always been Emperor Palpatine. After learning from Darth Plagueis, Palpatine betrays his master and seizes all of the power of the dark side for himself. His ultimate goal is to take control of the entire galaxy, but that’s easier said than done. The only hope of success is to slowly pit the two greatest powers in the galaxy against each other and wipe out all of the Jedi. It takes Palpatine decades to get everything in place, waiting until the very right moment to reveal himself to the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker. All the patience pays off, and Palpatine takes his throne without having to break a sweat.

Even after he died in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Palpatine finds a way to return by unleashing a clone of himself that builds the Final Order. However, Star Wars isn’t satisfied with the Dark Lord of the Sith being its greatest villain. No, the franchise is pushing a new bad guy’s agenda, and it’s clear that they’re stronger than every Force user that’s come before.

LEGO Star Wars‘ Solitus Makes Emperor Palpatine Look Like a Youngling

Solitus in LEGO Star Wars.

With the next live-action Star Wars movies and TV shows still in development, the franchise is filling the gap with an animated show, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past, which picks up right where its predecessor leaves off. Two powerful Force users, Sig Greebling and Dev Greebling, who also happen to be brothers, are on opposite ends of a major conflict. Dev is embracing the dark side, forcing Sig and his master, Jedi Bob, to fight back. However, Jedi Bob has his own relationship that threatens peace because his former master, Solitus, is back and ready to seek revenge for being imprisoned in the Forcehold, a dimension where all the unwanted LEGO pieces end up.

Solitus spends what feels like an eternity amassing an army in the Forcehold, preparing for the day that he returns to the galaxy he once called home. What makes the villain different from Palpatine or any other Sith is that he can open dimensional rifts, stopping any opponent in their tracks and trapping them forever. The greatest Jedi of all time, Yoda, picks a sight with Solitus and doesn’t even land a hand. Solitus only loses because he puts his trust in the wrong person, which is a common theme in Star Wars. Pieces of the Past‘s Big Bad doesn’t have to give up hope, though, because he could still have a future in a galaxy far, far away.

Will Solitus Ever Be Made Canon?

The characters that appear in LEGO Star Wars shows don’t go in with the idea that they’re a major part of the franchise. Typically, their stories aren’t part of canon, which is probably for the best because some wacky stuff goes down. However, in the Disney era, Lucasfilm hasn’t been afraid to make popular characters canon. Grand Admiral Thrawn makes his canon debut in Star Wars Rebels, tormenting the crew of the Ghost, and even appears in live-action in Star Wars: Ahsoka. Of course, bringing Thrawn into the fold isn’t that much of a risk because he doesn’t have galaxy-breaking abilities. Solitus, on the other hand, would change everything about Star Wars.

What Lucasfilm could do is put Soltius in a project, but not give him his animated powers. He might have to get in line because Starkiller is still waiting for his turn, but there should be room for both of them. After all, there’s no point in creating a great villain if they’re going to be one-and-done.
