When it comes to Supernatural, there are few enemies as infamous as good-old Lucifer. The devil is one of the only characters to ever give the Winchesters serious issues, so fans were thrilled when Mark Pellegrino reprised his role back in 2011. Now, Lucifer has a son of his own, and fans will be seeing a lot of the teenager in the coming months.
Fans were introduced to Lucifer’s son Jack at the end of season twelve. The offspring was born towards the end of its finale as Sam stumbled into the devilish character. Rather than being a helpless child, Jack debuted in a teenage body, and fans can only guess how the Nephilim will grow as season thirteen comes into view.
If you aren’t familiar with Jack or his inception, then you have a bit to catch up on. Supernatural‘s most recently season saw Lucifer return to Earth and possess the body of the President of the United States. The commander wound up conceiving a child with staffer Kelly Kline while possessed, and the offspring became a powerful half-angel as such.
When the Winchesters approach Kelly about his child, they are able to convince her of Lucifer’s actions, but she does not want to abort the child. The expecting mother then tries to kill herself (and the baby) once she learns of the destruction he will wreak, but her son resurrects her from within the womb. Castiel tries to kill the pair as well, but he stops after receiving a vision from the baby that depicts an unknown future.
At the end of season thirteen, Lucifer is doing his best to locate Kelly in time for the birth of his child. The Winchesters try to send the devil to an alternate reality which the Nephilim’s powers opened up, and Lucifer does get trapped their at great personal cost. With the rift closed, the brothers are left to mourn all they’ve lost, but they do not have long before someone unexpected appears. The finale ends with Lucifer’s full-grown son slinking out of the shadows towards Sam, and Jack’s power can be seen glowing as he flashes golden eyes.
