Chris Jericho Wins the United States Championship At Payback

Chris Jericho has put an end to Kevin Owens reign as The New Face Of America. With a surprising Payback victory over his former best friend Jericho and the United States Championship will be heading to SmackDown.

The two put on another classic performance that rivaled their WrestleMania battle, this time telling an entire story around Kevin Owens index finger. Jericho had the crowd in the palm of his hands when he locked in the Walls of Jericho for a second time. KO attempted to reach for the ropes, but Y2J was able to pull the former champ back into the center of the ring and get the tap out victory.

Y2J won’t be able to celebrate for long as new number one contender AJ Styles lies in waiting on SmackDown Live. Despite the strange brand switch stipulation, it appears as if Kevin Owens will remain on SmackDown as no mention of him moving to Raw was made after the bout.

The victory came as a huge surprise for most in the WWE Universe as it was heavily rumored that tonight would be the final night of Jericho’s current run with the WWE as he begins another tour with Fozzy May 5th in Virginia Beach.

We would not be surprised to see Jericho lose the belt this week on SmackDown, but even if he does, getting his win back against Owens was a nice moment to cap off the amazing last twelve months Jericho’s had in the WWE.
