Carly Pope Cast on Arrow Season 5 As Existing DC Comics Character

Star City is getting a new resident, courtesy of actress Carly Pope.

The talented actress is joining the cast of Arrow in season five as Susan Williams (via TV Insider). Williams is a journalist from Coast City, and as fans of the comics know is also the significant other of Jim Jordan, who is the younger brother of Hal Jordan, better known as Green Lantern.

Pope's character is "looking to make a name for herself", and what better avenue to do so than by targeting Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen. Pope has previously made a name for herself on shows like The Tomorrow People and Popular and is currently filming a stint on USA's Suits. Pope isn't the only new addition to the show either, as Tyler Ritter has also joined as a new detective, amongst other new hires and the upgrade of Echo Kellum's Curtis Holt from recurring to series regular.

As for the character's relation to the Green Lanterns, DC has kept that brand a bit quarantined since the Green Lantern film debuted to mixed results. Hopefully, this is a sign that we'll be seeing more of the emerald warriors, or at least characters from that part of the universe, in future episodes. Other references to Green Lantern on the show have included mentions of Coast City and billboards for Ferris Air. Pope will debut in episode three of the upcoming fifth season.

Arrow is set to return on Wednesday, October 5th at 8pm on The CW.
