It looks like Sebastian Stan is picking up Captain America's shied yet again. The actor recently posted a photo of himself and his personalized Cap shield on Instagram, and fans are clamoring to see Stan use it in real-life.

"Excuse me...where's the restroom?" A big thank you and shout out to Casey McBroom [at Shield Labs] for making this for me. Will come in handy…," the actor captioned his Instagram post. The picture itself shows Stan walking down a hallway with a beanie secured on his head. A shiny, round metal shield can be seen slung over Stan's shoulder, and it looks notably different from Captain America's piece.

Instead of rocking red-white-and-blue, Stan's shield borrows from the colors of the Winter Soldier's arm. The cybernetic limb was plated chrome and rocked a red, soviet star on its bicep. The shield gifted to Stan is very similar; The shield is primarily steel, and it has a large red star centered on it.

There's no word yet on if the shield could stand up to one of Iron Man's pulser blasts, but fans can dream.

Of course, there are fans wondering whether the image is a subtle hint at Bucky Barnes' future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor did tease fans that his new shield will come in handy, so perhaps that's a nod to him assuming Captain America's superhero role in the MCU?

For now, fans cannot be sure about the possible tease. The MCU keeps its secrets on lockdown, but Stan has talked about the possibility of him inheriting Captain America's name. At a convention, the actor was asked whether he will take up the Avenger's shield, and he had this to say: "I'll say this: They sure like to dangle a cheese in front of my nose a lot. They're like 'Oh yeah, that's where you pick up the shield,' and I'm like, 'Yeah, I've heard that one before. There it is again.'"

The actor was then asked if he would want to assume Captain America's role or whether Anthony Mackie should take up the shield. Stan said he would do it and joked that Mackie's portrayal of Captain America would be comparable to Biff in Back to the Future II.

Of course, fans of Captain America will understand why Stan is being asked about replacing the hero. In the comics, Bucky Barnes takes over for Captain America after the hero is apparently killed by Sharon Carter. In true superhero style, fans learn that Steve Rogers wasn't as dead as believed, but the original Avenger insisted that Bucky keep the shield. Eventually, Steve took his superhero identity back, but then he wound up gifting it to Sam Wilson/The Falcon in recent years.

So, what do you think? Would you want to see Stan get a real Captain America shield and take over from Steve Rogers in the MCU? Let us know in the comments below!
