Poor Team Arrow. When Oliver Queen isn’t being beaten into submission and tortured to the point of admitting he likes committing murder, him and his crew are locked in stalemates with the fellow Star City vigilante known as the, er, um, Vigilante.

The series has played separate long cons all season with the identities of both Prometheus and Vigilante being shrouded in mystery.
But while Prometheus is embarking on a very personal war against Team Arrow’s namesake, Vigilante’s focus has been on the greater threats to Star City, much like Oliver in the first season.
And with Prometheus’ big identity reveal as Arrow hurtles toward its season finale, show creator Marc Guggenheim revealed that they’re going to keep the lid on the Vigilante’s identity for the foreseeable future.
“We know who it is, but we were kind of intrigued by the idea of having a mystery that led into the next season,” Guggenheim said at PaleyFest when speaking with Screener. “We were excited at the prospect of just letting this play out for a little while longer, and it gives us something cool to do in Season 6.”

BUT, he did hint at the character’s identity, saying that it’s someone Arrow fans would be familiar with.
“As a general rule, I’m not a fan of mystery characters who when you take off the mask the audience goes, ‘What a minute, I’ve never seen that person before in my life.’ I’m probably not spoiling anything by saying whoever’s underneath the Vigilante mask, you’ve seen that person before.”
In the comics, one of the most popular iteration of the Vigilante persona belonged to Adrian Chase, who was recently revealed to be Prometheus. So the producers definitely threw a curve ball at fans who were familiar with the source material.
And if Vigilante is someone we’ve seen, who could it be? Probably not someone making regular appearances on the show, as most everyone has appeared on screen with the character, ruling out their possible involvement.โจโจ
UNLESS Vigilante is a shared identity by more than one person. Oh no, my head are spinning at the prospect. And it won’t stop spinning at least until Season 6! Damn you, Marc Guggenheim! Damn you!
