The Infinity Stones have become very important to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the build up to Avengers: Infinity War, but fans aren't alone in their confusion about the all-important cosmic remnants. Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth doesn't get it, either.

During a set visit the actor said that while Thor: Ragnarok connects to Avengers: Infinity War, they didn't want to get too stuck dealing with the Infinity Stones.

"We didn't wanna get bogged down in Infinity Stones and da-da-da-da, because I don't even understand that stuff a lot of the time," Hemsworth said.

If, like Hemsworth, you've had some trouble keeping track of the Infinity Stones here's a quick primer. The Infinity Stones are six mystic artifacts with enormous power. The Space Stone, Power Stone, Reality Stone, Mind Stone, and Time Stone have all appeared in various MCU films while the sixth stone, the Soul Stone, has yet to appear. When brought together in a special glove called the Infinity Gauntlet, the six stones make the wearer unstoppable which is why Thanos wants them so badly.

Hemsworth not having a full understanding of the Infinity Stones is humorous largely because of how involved with trying to understand them Thor is. At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor left Earth to find out more about the mysterious objects of Thanos' desire. However, even with Hemsworth being confused about the Stones, the events of Thor: Ragnarok will be very important to the next Avengers installment even though the actor stops short of revealing if we'll see the Soul Stone anytime soon.

"Without giving anything away [Thor: Ragnarok] definitely bleeds nicely into [Avengers: Infinity War,] as they all tend to do," Hemsworth explained. "This being called Ragnarok, which everyone knows what that means, it obviously is gonna effect the larger universe."

Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3, 2017.
