Yesterday’s installment may have been a bust, a piece of fan art mistakenly run as real by us and other comics news sites when we didn’t translate the source’s web page from French to English, but today Yahoo! Movies has released not one but two official and bona fide theatrical posters for Sony’s summer tentpole The Amazing Spider-Man.
We’ll admit that the color palette and general feel of the city behind our hero in these posters is remarkably similar to the fan-made poster, which might have convinced more people if it didn’t say Marvel Studios on it. That made us suspicious, too, but Marvel Studios is listed as a producer on the movie’s IMDb page, so we took a chance on trusting other sources who were running it.
(Sorry about that.)
No word on why Sony said “this weekend” and then launched them on Monday, although Bleeding Cool is reporting that the studio claimed yesterday they were out there.
The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. It will be in theaters on July 3, including a 3D and IMAX release.
