When Gotham returns for its fourth season, it will be with a pair of new characters in tow: Marina Benedict (Prison Break) will play recurring character Cherry, a fight club operator, with Benjamin Stockham (Sons of Tuscon) guest starring as Alex Winthrop, friend to the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). TVLine broke the news.

Benedict's Cherry is the owner of an "edgy and tough" fight club operating out of the Narrows, one of Gotham City's more dilapidated and dangerous neighborhoods. The club acts as the law in the otherwise lawless Narrows, and Cherry will be both ally and adversary to Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith), Butch (Drew Powell), and other characters as they move through the fight club.

Stockham's "bookish" Alex is the grandson of a museum curator who first meets Bruce Wayne as he tracks a mysterious artifact. The boys are forced to go on the run when "dangerous forces" set their sights on the object, and Bruce is ultimately forced to "make a choice no one should ever have to make."

We previously learned Gotham season 4 will be bringing back Jonathan Crane (Charlie Tahan), who first appeared in the show's sophomore season. Crane will don the guise of the Scarecrow, with executive producer John Stephens describing the upcoming villain's featured episode as "a horror movie episode where we really get to see Scarecrow," adding that the fear-inducing villain will be "purely terrifying."

Gotham returns for its season 4 premiere Thursday, September 21 at 8/7c on Fox.
