The fourth season of Gotham is set to kick off with a bang as the villains continue to run amok while Bruce Wayne begins his fledgling career as a vigilante.
FOX revealed the synopses for the first two episodes of the new year, picking up after the events of the last season where Jim Gordon was pushed to the brink of madness and young Wayne took his first steps toward becoming Batman.
The Season 4 premiere episode on September 21, called “Pax Penguina,” promises more developments on Oswald Cobblepot’s attempts to maintain control of Gotham's criminal underworld. But it also promises the return of a major villain from the Batman mythos.
Gordon fears Jonathan Crane (guest star Charlie Tahan) is still alive and back in Gotham, when The Scarecrow’s signature MO is used in a series of robberies. Meanwhile, Penguin’s “licensing” of crime in the city backfires during the grand opening of his new Iceberg Lounge. Also, in the aftermath of his encounter with Ra’s Al Ghul, Bruce begins his vigilante watch in the all-new “Pax Penguina” season premiere episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Sept. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-401) (TV-14 L, V)
The following episode airs a week later on September 28, and will continue showcasing the Scarecrow’s fearful tactics. It will also feature Barbara Kean’s fateful reunion with Tabitha Galavan after the former was previously murdered by her ex-lover.
Under pressure to prove that the GCPD is still powerful, Gordon attempts to bring in Jonathan Crane. However, Gordon puts himself in a dangerous situation at Arkham when he is forced to fight off lunatics and the demon within himself. Meanwhile, with Barbara’s unexpected return, Selina and Tabitha must consider risks that come with joining her in the weapon business in the all-new “The Fear Reaper” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Sept. 28 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-402) (TV-14 L, V)
Gotham has increasingly upped the stakes as villains continue to vie for control of the city, while Gordon and Wayne increase their efforts to protect the city’s citizens.
Expect that to continue when the series returns to FOX on September 21.
