The upcoming midseason premiere of The Flash's fourth season finally has a title, and it confirms that the show is taking on a classic storyline from the comics when the show returns to January.

The CW released a promo for the upcoming eleventh episode of the series, due to air on January 16, 2018 recently and while the actual promo itself isn't new, the title of the episode is: "The Trial of The Flash." You can check it out above.

The episode shows the fallout from the final moments of the CW superhero drama's midseason finale where Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) was arrested for the murder of Clifford DeVoe/The Thinker (Neil Sandilands). The catch here is that Barry didn't murder him. The villain did a body swap of sorts and then used his discarded body to frame the speedster for the non-crime. After the midseason finale aired, we speculated that the episode opened the door for the series to explore the comic story arch "The Trial of the Flash, and now this episode title confirms that we will get the show's take.

In the comic book version of "The Trial of the Flash," Barry goes on trial for the murder of Professor Zoom. Zoom had previously murdered Iris and then tried to murder Barry's new love, Fiona Webb. Barry is ultimately convicted of Zoom's murder thanks to Abra Kadabra (disguised as Reverse-Flash) brainwashing the jury so Barry flees, ending up in the 30th century, where Iris' spirit ended up. Barry running into the future allows him to reunite with her and live happily ever after...at least until he dies in during "Crisis on Infinite Earths."

While The Flash will have its own version of events -- we already know that Barry's not on trial because he killed Thawne or Zoom -- it will be interesting to see just how much of the comic book story the show will take on. After all, during "Crisis on Earth-X" we got a brief look at a curious young woman that some think could be either Dawn Allen or Jenni Ognats -- and both women are Barry's descendants with ties to the 30th century.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW. "The Trial of The Flash" will air January 16, 2018.
