Pokemon Go
is invading the historic city of Chester. Pokemon Go will host a live event in the ancient British city on July 22 and July 23 that will turn various historical sites within the city into PokeStops.

The new live event is part of a new partnership between Niantic, The Pokemon Company International, and the British organization Big Heritage with the goal of promoting community engagement and education.

Chester is an ancient walled city founded by the Romans in 79 AD. Much of the city's buildings date back to medieval times and the city still has much of its original protective walls surrounding the city.

As part of the event, Chester will open its medieval castle up to visitors for the first time in 20 years.

Not only will the event feature special PokeStops, Niantic also promised both "live and in-game surprises" for Pokemon Go fans.

The event is taking place on the same weekend as Pokemon Go Fest, which means that players will be able to take advantage of whatever in-game perks Pokemon Go adds for fans who aren't able to make the trip to Chicago.

As part of the new partnership, Big Heritage will also work with schools in the Cheshire and Merseyside regions to explore and learn about the history of their area by playing Pokemon Go. Big Heritage and Pokemon Go will also be teaming up for other live events in other parts of England.
