The power of the Xbox One X is the console's main selling point and it's advantage over the PlayStation 4 Pro, but according to some game developers, the two consoles really aren't that different from a development perspective.

Streum On Studio, the developers behind the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 game Space Hulk: Deathwing, spoke about the differences between the upgraded versions of both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One from the point of view of developing the actual games that get enhancements on the consoles. In an interview with GamingBolt, Streum On Studio said that process of developing a game for the Xbox One X wasn't unlike the process of making one for the PS4 Pro.

"The differences between PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are not as big in terms of development as you might think," Streum On Studio told GamingBolt during the interview.

The devs went on to say that most difficult of the entire process was actually getting each game to run properly on both the original versions of the PS4 as well as the Xbox One. From that point on, the upgraded console versions simply allow the devs to add unique extras to the games for the console.

"They are both more powerful version of the 'vanilla' console and serve the same purposes: Providing a better graphical experience for the user," the dev studio said regarding the main purpose of the PS4 Pro and the upcoming Xbox One X. "The hard part is getting your game to work well on the vanilla console, then the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X allows for cool bonuses."

So while Xbox and PlayStation fans continue their talks of true 4K gaming, FPS, and overall console power, it appears that to at least some developers, the differences between the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro aren't as significant, at least during the development process.

The Xbox One X's preorders ended quickly though with Microsoft's fans quickly snatching up all the available units, so from gamers' perspectives, the difference between consoles is certainly present. Microsoft's Xbox One X is scheduled to release on Nov. 7.
