Bandai Namco has confirmed that a new Sword Art Online game called Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet will be releasing soon in February.

The upcoming SAO game has been teased in the past with a gameplay trailer, shown above, that was released during the Tokyo Game Show events to highlight some of the gameplay. Aside from being the first time that the series will come to the Xbox One and PC, one of the most notable changes that veterans of the series will notice is that this game will take place in third person, a first for the series.

Throughout the game, players will be able to interact with some of the most iconic characters from the SAO universe. Powerful visuals created through the use of Unreal Engine 4, a diverse selection of weapons obtainable through RPG gameplay, and stronge bosses await players in the original story that comes from the series' creator, Reki Kawahara.

As far as what kinds of weapons will be utilized, Bandai Namco seems to have big plans for some exciting tools. Players will start with a special UFG weapon that enables 3D movements and assists in reaching less accessible areas of the map while also proving useful when closing the gap between you and an enemy. Using your weapons also appears to be quite the experience with Bandai Namco describing the gun play as having "unique and realistic designs resembling something out of a sci-fi movie."

Players will also be able to control some of the other characters that appear in Fatal Bullet during their fights in parties that can reach up to four members. You won't have complete control over your teammates, but you'll be able to issue commands to them to guide them through the hectic combat. It also appears that you can rope in your real-world friends when playing as well when fighting bosses through a co-op feature, or you can face off against them in 4-on-4 battles.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is currently available to pre-order for $59.99 – 20-percent off applicable if you're an Amazon Prime member – and is scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 23rd.
