The official release of Monster Hunter World is still some time away, but the space in between is being filled in with descriptive trailers that give players a better look at what they can expect from the game. Palicos are basically the new Porgs of Monster Hunter World, except a lot more useful, and plenty stylish, too. The new trailer shows off customization options for the little guys, as well as what they're capable of as companions. Now we see where the 'pal' in 'palicos' comes from. Check it out below:

From being hunters themselves to expert chefs, the Palicos seem to be the perfect companions. The creatures aren't new to the series, but these advanced customizations are. Palicos are available in the game during single-player mode, and help assist in combat as well as take care of the player's wounds. Palicos are especially helpful in battle because of their wonderful new ability to talk to other small creatures and felyne clan members in order to enlist their help. So, if you're stuck in the middle of a battle, your companion will come running in at your command often in the company of a larger, much more dangerous creature.

In multiplayer mode, this changes so that the player can seek help from other players who are online. But the Palicos are really too adorable, and we can't get enough of them, so we expect that quite a few players are going to spend time working on making their little buddies strong and loyal. Monster Hunter World is said to present new challenges never before seen in the franchise, so with such boundless possibilities on the horizon, having some help along the way isn't a bad idea.

Monster Hunter World is set for release on January 26, 2018 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
