When you think of Lin-Maneul Miranda, you might hear musical numbers from the Broadway hit Hamilton. You may even conjure up an image of Mary Poppins or Beauty and the Beast as the composer is working on the upcoming remakes of the franchise. There are a lot of things that may come to mind, but Carnage isn't one of them.

However, they might want to direct their thoughts that way. According to Meet The Movie Press, the Spider-Man villain is someone who Miranda wants to play.

In the most episode of Meet The Movie Press, host Simon Thompson said Miranda has indicated his interest in the Marvel villain.

"He [Miranda] is a big fan of Marvel. There is one particular character that he would actually like to play, that he has already specified. It's Carnage," he said.

"He [Miranda] said if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in [the Marvel Cinematic Universe] as a character, he wants to be Carnage. Genuinely as a fan, he would love to play Carnage. That is a goal of his."

Clearly, fans of the Marvel Universe might be a bit confused about the actor's preference. The notion does seem out of nowhere, but Miranda playing Carnage might be a perfect role for the up-beat actor since it's unexpected.

If you are not familiar with Carnage, then you should know the Spider-Man character is a nasty guy. The villain was born Cletus Kasady, a prolific serial killer in New York who ended up merging with the offspring of Venom during a prison escape. The alien parasite's bond made Cletus even more psychotic and unstable than he was previously, and his murderous nature was enhanced twofold. He's a merciless villain who revels in bloodshed and hates Spider-Man for interfering with his bloody rampages.

However, the ship may have sailed for Miranda to play the villain. Fans have speculated for some time now that Michael Mando would play a version of the character in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have kept quiet about the alleged role, but Internet chatter persists.

So, what do you think? Would you want to see the Hamilton star take on the vengeful Spider-Man villain? Let us know in the comments below!
