A new trailer for Jessica Jones season 2 is out, and you can watch it above!

The trailer shows Jessica after her brutal and traumatic liberation from the grip of Kilgrave (not to mention a ninja invasion of NYC), just trying to move forward with her Alias Investigations P.I. firm. Of course, while Jessica may have survived the recent harrowing events in her life, it doesn't in any way mean that the demons left behind from those encounters are gone.

The trailers for Jessica Jones season 2 have kept it intentionally vague about what the exact nature of the storyline is, or who the villains are, but there have been hints and teases pointing to a mystery into Jessica's own past and origin story - including the mystery of how she got her fantastical powers. More importantly, this trailer makes it appear as though Jessica may learn more than just where her powers came from: she'll find out a purpose for using them.

So far, a lot of the same femme Noir elements that made Jessica Jones season 1 such a pleasant surprise are intact here in season 2. Unlike Daredevil season 2 or The Defenders, there doesn't seem to be a need to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe connections with a massive blowout of cameos and references; aside from the Luke Cage callback, the trailer doesn't even try to invoke The Defenders team in any way. This will be firmly a Jessica Jones story, and given how big Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones has gotten with Marvel fans, that's A-ok.

Jessica Jones season premieres on Netflix starting March 8th. Daredevil season 3 and Luke Cage season 2 are currently in production, with Iron Fist and The Punisher both already renewed for second seasons.
