Fans traveling to Comic-Con in San Diego this July hoping to catch a Joker laugh or a bit of Jedi wisdom from actor Mark Hamill will sadly be disappointed. The actor, in a conversation with EW about his new digital series Pop Culture Quest on Comic-Con HQ (the official digital streaming platform of Comic-Con International), said he doesn't think he'll be there.

"It doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to make it this year, because of the shooting schedule here," he said, referencing Star Wars: Episode VIII. "I don't get back until the third week in July. I wanted to go, because that's where they're gonna premiere The Killing Joke, and [Batman voice] Kevin Conroy is gonna be there. I'd love to see it with an audience. But it doesn't look like my schedule's gonna allow it this year. My major obligation right now, obviously, is to Episode VIII."

The principal photography portion of Episode VIII is actually due to wrap up in June, but it's possible Hamill and another actor or two have already been informed of some additional obligations. After all, he shot his first footage for the film way back in November, before Star Wars: The Force Awakens had even hit theaters, and a few months before principal shooting started for the film.

Hamill will also be attending Star Wars Celebration Europe in London this July, just one week before Comic-Con, so his schedule will be fairly tight this summer.
