Star Wars John Boyega Writes A Note To Fans

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens released its teaser trailer yesterday, the first face audiences saw belonged to John Boyega.

The English actor, who has appeared in Attack the Block and 24: Live Another Day, is a new addition to the Star Wars cast, and plays a character about whom we know very little. He appears in a Stormtrooper uniform, sans helmet, in the teaser...and apparently on the desert planet of Tattooine.

Following the massive response from fans online to the teaser trailer, Boyega took to social media to post a note to the audience.

The "get used to it" at the end is seemingly in response to antagonistic and/or racist remarks made by some fans about the trailer. Many media outlets noted that the trailer started with a character of color and a female character, and while most considered that a good thing -- or at least an interesting one -- there has been some negativity online from the usual suspects. The comments section suggest that's what the issue is, at any rate.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in movie theaters on December 18, 2015
