Supergirl is currently shooting its second season in Vancouver, and it didn’t take long for some footage of the show’s new Superman (played by Tyler Hoechlin) to surface from the set.

Twitter user @trevorbroad was nearby and caught some footage of Hoechlin in costume on the set. Most of it involved Superman either landing on the ground or taking off into the air, though there is one shot of him looking over someone who is possibly injured. The costume looks great in motion, especially the cape. You can view several of the tweets below.

Before Hoechlin was cast in the role, there were a number of other candidates, and several of them were former Supermen themselves. At San Diego Comic-Con, Hoechlin was asked about the difference between the CW-verse and DC’s film universe, and if it affects how he views the character.

“Yeah. I don’t think you ever really want to do that anyway, to copy or emulate somebody. There’s things you take from different performances from movies everywhere I think when you approach a character, but this one is a different tone for sure.”

“The thought hit me the other day: with everything going on in the world right now, it’s so fantastic that we have a show like this that goes at it from an optimistic and hopeful point of view. It’s a lot of fun, and Melissa’s the best. I know her through Blake [Jenner] from Everybody Wants Some!, and she’s so fantastic in the show. I can’t wait to get to work.”

Supergirl returns to the CW on October 10th.
