Fast & Furious 8 has added two big names to the franchise’s latest entry in Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, and while we’ve seen a few shots of Charlize’s new villain Cipher, we hadn’t yet seen Mirren’s character.

Actor Vin Diesel gave us our first look at Miren in a new photo from the set (via his Instagram). The photo shows the two talking at what looks like a bar, and he captioned the post with “Such a joy and an honor working with Helen Miren…Happy Toretto Tuesday!”

Surprise! She looks like Helen Mirren, but outside of that, we know next to nothing about the character that she will be playing. The film already has its share of villains, with the aforementioned Cipher and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw returning for another go, so I’m not sure where she will fit into the plot.
Maybe she will figure into getting Hobbs out of a maximum security penitentiary, something that has been teased over the last few weeks via some Instagram posts from The Rock Dwayne Johnson.
Fast and Furious 8 is over halfway throughout its filming, and by now many had hoped to at least get a tease of Eva Mendes returning for the series eighth installment. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet, but there is still time, as essentially it would be more of a cameo anyway.
Fast and Furious 8 is being directed by F. Gary Gray, and stars actors Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, Jordana Brewster, and Lucas Black. It releases on April 14th, 2017.
