Agents Of SHIELD: Ghost Rider Video And Images From Season 4 Premiere

SPOILERS for the Agents of SHIELD Season 4 premiere episode, “The Ghost,” follow.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returned to ABC tonight, and the series brought vengeance along with it. After the episode aired on the East Coast, Marvel officially released one of the most exciting clips from the episode online, which we’ve embedded below.

Agents of SHIELD wasted no time in introducing Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes, the Ghost Rider. The episode’s opening scene had Ghost Rider in pursuit of members of the Aryan Brotherhood. None of them survived to the end credits.

Viewers only saw glimpses of Ghost Rider in his full fiery glory then. Later in the episode, Ghost Rider came face to face with Quake. Ghost Rider and Quake quickly came to blows, and viewers were treated to Ghost Rider’s first television transformation.

Once fully transformed, Ghost Rider takes down Quake with relative ease. Despite Quake begging for death, Ghost Rider judges here to be innocent and leaves her alive.

The special effects work on Ghost Rider’s transformation and fiery form are truly impressive, especially for television. Agents of SHIELD‘s Ghost Rider arguably look even better than the movie Ghost Rider, played by Nicholas Cage, from the Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance movies.

This isn’t the last meeting for Ghost Rider and Quake. While next week’s episode of Agents of SHIELD is titled “Meet the New Boss,” teasing the first appearance of Jason O’Mara as the new director of SHIELD, the episode’s synopsis also teases a rematch between Quake and Ghost Rider, one that could cost Quake.

Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
