If you’re a fan of Supernatural, then you probably felt a bit strange when the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead. The shocking episode saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan take on his role of Negan with full-on brutality, leaving audiences awed and somewhat dismayed. However, Supernatural fans were probably sitting on their couches wondering why John Winchester had joined the cast since Morgan did play the grumpy character on Supernatural.
And, now, one of the stars from Supernatural is giving Morgan a hard time about his new job.

Not long ago, Jensen Ackles posted a rather hilarious photo to his Instagram from the set of Supernatural. The actor, who plays Dean Winchester on the hit drama, shared a picture of Negan’s barbed-wire bat on top of a rather familiar car. The weapon is seen resting on Dean’s Impala, a car that originally belonged to John on the series. “Hey Dad, you left something in the impala,” Ackles teased.
Not long after, Ackles posted another picture of himself holding the lethal bat while he sat on top of his precious ride. The actor nodded to Morgan, writing, “Hey Jeff…I like the feel of this. Might have to give it a swing!” Ackles also posted the photo to Twitter, and Morgan quickly responded to his former on-screen son.
“You weren’t supposed to find that,” Morgan said. “Gonna need her back son. I mean…I already gave you my car. And? I don’t know? Sorta, died for you.”
Ackles answered, saying, “Yep, ur right. Copy that. I’ll wrap it in this red scarf I found and overnight it to you.”
If you’re not a fan of Supernatural, then you should know that Morgan was cast as the father of Dean and Sam Winchester on the show. The actor was part of the series from its premiere episode, and his character was not all that sympathetic. Morgan played a brusk, vengeful father who brought his boys into the family business of hunting supernatural monsters. John was prompted to turn his sons into soldiers after his wife Mary was killed by a demon named Azazel.
Sadly, Morgan left the show shortly into the second season. His character’s legacy has continued to live on throughout the series and its twelve seasons.
Hey @JDMorgan I found this in the trunk…can I try it out?. Don’t miss tonight’s episode. It’s a knockout! #Supernatural #walkingdead pic.twitter.com/N0VooufX5u

While the actor’s role on Supernatural wasn’t the nicest, John did prove that he cared for his sons in small ways. Unlike Negan, John’s not-so-fatherly character was ultimately likable.
It has been a long time since fans got to see the two’s relationship displayed to the public. Like father, like son – you know. It’s good to see that Ackles in taking after his small screen father even after Morgan jumps over to a new series.
The Walking Dead airs on Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
