If you have been waiting to see more of Amber Heard’s take on Mera, then you are about to get the gift of a lifetime. Earlier this month, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment finally got work underway on Aquaman. The standalone film has seen Jason Momoa return as Arthur Curry along with Heard as Mera. And, now, the director of Aquaman has released a first-look image at Mera on set.

And, yes – Mera looks understandably amazing in the heroine’s skin-tight suit.

“Lady MERA swept in from the sea. First day with the exquisite Amber Heard,” Wan captioned the picture.

In the photo, fans can see Heard standing on what looks to be a pier as the blurred image of a boat can be seen behind the Atlantean. Drenched in sea water, Mera’s iconic green costume can be seen glistening under the moonlight, and her long red hair can be seen curling now that she’s surfaced.

Earlier today, Heard gave fans a personal update from the set of Aquaman. The actress posted a photo from her trailer as she got ready for filming, and Heard wrote a quick caption which reflected on all the prep she’s put into her role. “Over a year of prep, 6 months of training, & countless hrs of denying myself pleasure, aka donuts, has led to this moment: Day 1. #Aquaman,” she gushed.

Before fans get to see Mera in Aquaman, they will have a chance to see the character appear in Justice League. The highly anticipated blockbuster will feature both Mera and Aquaman as the Justice League assembles to defeat the looming threat which Steppenwolf brings to Earth.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroesโ€”Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flashโ€”it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ciarรกn Hinds (Steppenwolf), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).

The DCEU continues when Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2, 2017, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
