Bay is proud of his five Transformers movie and feels like he’ll be stepping away on a high note with Transformers: The Last Knight.

“These movies that I’ve done, they are massive movies. They take a lot out of you,” Bay tells Fandango. “I’ve done it enough, and I’ve had a great time doing it. I’m going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you’re ahead, you know. I think I’ve had a good run, and I’ve got a lot of other movies I want to do.”

So what other movies does Bay have in mind? Quite a few that should make fans happy.

“I just read a very bloody hitman movie that was a page turner. That seems like a fun one to do,” he said. “I love doing 13 Hours, I love doing Pain & Gain — I think it’ll be something more serious and more adult, I guess.”

Bay has directed all four films in the Transforms movie franchise so far. This isn’t the first time Bay has attempted to leave the Transformers franchise, only to be pulled back in. He previously said that he was done with the series after he completed the first trilogy. Fans will have to wait and see if his departure sticks this time.

In Transformers: The Last Knight, humans are at war with the Transformers, and Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past and the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Now, it’s up to the unlikely alliance of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Bumblebee, an English lord (Anthony Hopkins) and an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock) to save the world.

Transformers: The Last Knight is directed by Michael Bay. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles from Transformers: Age of Extinction, with Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro reprising roles from the first three Transformers movies.

Transformers: The Last Knight’s voice cast includes Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, John Goodman as Hound, and John DiMaggio as Crosshairs. Other transformers appearing the film include Bumblebee, Drift, Hot Rod, Cogman, Canopy, Sqweeks, Grimlock, Megatron, Barricade, Onslaught, Hooligan, and Mohawk.
