There are already story plans for Transformers 6 & 7 in place (with a new director), and there’s even another Transformers spinoff that could take place in ancient Rome. However what fans are most excited for is a Bumblebee spinoff/prequel movie that will be set in the 1980s.

We’ve already heard that the Bumblebee movie will be returning the Transformers movie franchise to the G1 “heritage” of the original ’80s cartoons. Along with that notion of G1 nostalgia, fans are waiting to see something they’ve longed for in the movie franchise: Bumblebee in his classic G1 vehicle form of a yellow Volkswagon Bug.

According to Transformers franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura during Comicbook.com’s interviews for Transformers 5, “Classic Bumblebee” is something we’ll almost certainly see during the characters solo movie spinoff.

As Bonaventura told us, “You never know. We are doing a 1985 Bumblebee movie, so there’s, you know, a possibility you might just see that.”

That’s pretty much a coy way of confirming that obviously, with the Bumblebee movie’s chosen setting and story, we will definitely see that classic vehicle form in the film.

Transformers fans, rejoice!
