Before Wonder Woman ripped into theaters this month, the DC heroine entered the DC Extended Universe with the help of Zack Snyder. Gal Gadot debuted her take on Diana Prince in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and she became a quick favorite with fans. Now, Snyder has shared new behind-the-scenes images from the film, and they show Gadot’s first-ever photo as Wonder Woman.

Taking to social media, Snyder posted a photo of Gadot shortly after sharing an image of Batman from Justice League. The director shared a collage of Batman v Superman stills, and Snyder captioned the post with, “This is the first photo I took of Gal.”
In the collage, fans can see two images of Gadot. The center picture shows the actress giving her profile to the camera. Gadot is not wearing Wonder Woman‘s iconic costume, but the way the actress is carrying herself makes her look like the Themysciran princess. Another photo of the actress can be seen to the right that shows Gadot in Wonder Woman’s cloak. Donning the heroine’s headband, the actress can be seen slinking in the shadows, but fans would not get to see Wonder Woman’s cloak in full until her solo film hit theaters.
These special photos give fans a look into Gadot’s first days as Wonder Woman. In the past, the star has said she had no idea she was auditioning for the heroine until she clarified the gig with her agent. Snyder simply invited Gadot to audition for a film, and it wasn’t until the actress was traveling back-and-forth between Israel and California that she learned the truth. Fans have come to agree Gadot was the perfect actress for the job given her universally praised performance in Wonder Woman this year. Looking back, it seems like Snyder knew from the start that Gadot was the lady for the job.
