Season 3 of Gotham ended with Butch Gilzean getting shot in the head, and two doctors revealing that his real name was actually Cyrus Gold. Since then, DC fans have been waiting to see Gold’s resurrected alter-ego, Solomon Grundy, appear on the show.
Last week’s promo gave viewers the first glimpse at the longtime comic villain, but no one could see very much. However, in tonight’s episode, “The Blade’s Path,” Grundy made is full debut.
In the beginning of the episode, viewers saw Slaughter Swamp, where a bunch of Indian Hills chemicals were spilled. With pale white skin, Grundy rose from the swamp.
Some men were listening to the classic “Solomon Grundy” rhyme on a record player, and the villain took them down and stole their clothes. He recited the poem, “Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday,” before marching toward Gotham City.
What Grundy does now is a mystery, but he’s finally here. Let’s hope, unlike Scarecrow, he sticks around.
Gotham airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
