As reported by Erik Davis of Fandango, Black Panther has officially outpaced every other superhero movie, ever in advanced ticket sales! This is a major good sign for Marvel Studios, director Ryan Coogler and his all-star cast; Black Panther is already setting milestones, and continuing to prove a major point to Hollywood.
With the record-setting success of Wonder Woman, and the projected big success of Black Panther, the debate about increased diversity in the superhero seems to have a very lucrative answer. Audiences – of all kinds – are not only eager, but grateful to have a wider range of stories and character types to experience; a more diverse selection of talented filmmakers are telling those stories in creative and thrilling ways; and a more diverse crop of stars are becoming icons for a whole new generation of kids, who will grow up never knowing this was once a debate, at all.
After the first reactions to Black Panther, moviegoers can expect more than a diversity campaign: Creed‘s Ryan Coogler has reportedly made one of the most thrilling and thematically sound MCU movie yet, with a whole new world and exciting set of characters to expand Marvel’s already massive empire.
Black Panther opens in theaters on February 16th. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies include; Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6th, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the fourth Avengers movie on May 3, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
