If you hate filler episodes, then you have likely commended One Piece's disdain for the stories. In the world of shonen, anime series are often plagued with non-canon arcs. Titles like Bleach and Naruto have been inundated with filler arcs over the years, but One Piece has stayed lean with its inclusion. To date, less than 15% of the 700+ episode series has been filler. However, it looks like that number is about to increase. In the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the magazine announced that One Piece is about to enter a fill anime-only storyline.

On March 19th, the Straw-Hat Pirates will be met with an original filler arc. The storyline is titled 'Marine Rookie' and is said to feature new Marine soldiers. The publication also commented on the arc's specific story details. According to Weekly Shonen Jump, the filler story will center on Luffy and his comrades as they travel to save Sanji. However, Luffy's insatiable appetite gets in the crew's way as they run out of food during their journey. As such, the team sneaks into a Marine base to steal supplies, but Luffy is stopped when three new Marines from Aokiji's crew halt him.

A key visual for the arc was also announced. The image shows Luffy in his iconic straw-hat facing against three powerful Marine soldiers. However, fans may be a bit taken aback by the poster given Luffy's clothing; The hero can be seen donning a loose, white Marine jacket. The visual also gave names to the new characters being introduced to the series. The soldiers are named Grant, Bonamu, and Sappa whilst their vice-admiral is named Prody.
