The franchise has also expanded in several other ways in recent years, with a live-action series, movies, and a remake all in the works. Recently, a new announcement for the series was also made, and with it, One Piece now has a total of three major projects that fans should be very excited about, all of which are coming in 2027.

Netflix announced the reboot project for the One Piece anime by WIT Studio all the way back in December 2023. Since then, fans have been very excited to see where this new project by a beloved studio will head. The latest information has confirmed that this new anime, which aims to modernize the series and make it more accessible to newer fans, is set to be released in February 2027.

It has also been confirmed that the upcoming reboot will include a total of seven episodes, with each episode having a runtime of around 40+ minutes, meaning it will adapt a major first arc of the series. This project has been one of the most exciting projects the franchise has announced, and it will be amazing to finally see it realized and experience the beginning of One Piece again with modern animation and better pacing meant to address the issues of the original anime.

2) One Piece Live-Action Season 3

Another One Piece project also comes under Netflix, and undoubtedly, bringing One Piece to life as a live-action series was one of the best decisions the streaming platform could have made, as the series has honestly emerged as a near-perfect adaptation. While the focus of the first season was to make the live-action format work, the second season expanded the action elements of the series, making it bigger and bolder. Season 3 has also been announced and will pick up from where the second season left off.

This season is also aiming to be even bigger than the second season, as it will adapt the first major battle arc, the Alabasta arc, from the source material. Filming for the season is already complete, and it already has a release window for next year. Fans can expect the exciting third season to arrive in Summer or Fall 2027, making the franchise even bigger and better.

The most recent exciting news emerged from the One Piece Day 2026 event this past weekend, which revealed that Toei Animation is working on two new anime movies. However, the movie coming next year, One Piece God Valley, exceeded expectations, as it will be the first movie to directly adapt pages from the manga. One Piece God Valley, as the name suggests, will adapt the God Valley arc that the Elbaph arc in the manga has depicted.

The release window for this canon movie is slated for Summer 2027. This indicates that the anime will likely adapt up to the events of God Valley by then, finally depicting this exciting event on the big screen. This is by far the most exciting One Piece project of next year, and it also positions the series to follow the trend of adapting manga arcs into movies. While other arcs of the series may not have worked as well, the God Valley arc is perfect for this format, as it is filled with exciting turns that will surely blow fans’ minds on the big screen.
