The protagonist may be the lead hero of the series, but Sui Ishida had no problems pitting Ken against a slew of insanely powerful characters. Some of these gifted ghouls have been friendly while others have been less than forthcoming.

The series’ anime has yet to explore all of Tokyo Ghoul and its characters, but it has given fans a glimpse at its elite caliber of ghouls. The short taste was enough to clue fans in on the kind of pain which awaited Ken.

Here at ComicBook, we are going through and counting down some of the most powerful characters from Tokyo Ghoul. The characters may align with villains or take part in the CCG – but they have no handicaps when it comes to fighting.

Not at all.

Noro

When translated, Noro literally translates to curse in English, and the character will make any bystander feel as if they have been spelled.

The SS-ranked ghoul is a direct underling of the One-Eyed King, and he looks creepy to boot.

The ghoul’s visage gives him a buck-toothed smile and no eyes. The face is only half as terrifying as Noro’s stealth and fighting skills. But, when it comes to it, the baddie won’t win a war with his offensive skills. No, he will win simply by outliving his opponents thanks to his remarkable regeneration abilities.

Matasaka Kamishiro

The ghoul Shachi may look unassuming, but fans should not take his peaceful visage as an indicator for weakness.

Tokyo Ghoul has compared the fighter to Noro directly and even to powerful SSS-ranked ghouls from time to time.

In the anime, Shachi is a retired leader of the 6th ward, but stories tell of his immense power which he keeps hidden. Fans have only seen the fighter go up against Ken so far, but they are willing to be the martial artist could unleash some formidable power if he let loose.

ย

Yoshimura

Don’t every judge a character by their age, especially if they are a Ghoul.

Yoshimura may be the pacifist overseers of the Anteiku Cafe, but he is no pushover.

The man holds a SSS-rank and was known as one of the most powerful ghoul mercenaries during his youth. After falling in love, Yoshimaru left his days of blood money behind, but he has not let his skills up. The gentle man rarely kills unless it is totally necessary, and he only engages in fights to protect young ghouls of his daughter.

ย

Eto

When it comes to truly terrifying power, Eto has a lock on the field.

The character is the daughter of Yoshimaru, and Eto inherited her father’s power plus some.

The girl is seen wrapped in bandages, and she is a founding member of the Aogiri Tree. Known as the One-Eyed Owl, Eto is able to unleash her Ukaku Kagune in a way that turns it into deadly appendages. The character controls the limbs by thought, and she can also detached her kagune for long-range battle.

ย

Kishou Arima

When it comes to strength and wit, there is no match for Kishou Arima.

The character is a ghoul investigator who is a legend amongst the CCG. Having fought with ghouls since he was a child, Arima is well-versed in battle and uses his wit to push back even the likes of Eto.

The special class investigator has gone toe-to-toe with the most terrifying of SSS-ranked ghouls and lived. There are no other characters in Tokyo Ghoulย with the kind of powerful consistency Arima has.
