Naruto fans have not been shy about their love of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The show had big steps to fill in the aftermath of Naruto Shippuden, but the show has proved it isn’t relying on nostalgic gimmicks to keep fans coming back. However, longtime fans of the franchise do love seeing the children of Konoha’s greatest heroes. And, soon, fans will get to meet the child of one villain they hoped to never see again.
In the fifth episode of Boruto, fans will meet a new transfer student who joins Konoha Academy in hopes of becoming a ninja. The shadowy boy can be seen in the preview for “The Mysterious Transfer Student,” and fans of the Boruto manga are ready to see Boruto meet the new student for the first time.
After all, Mitsuki is a well-known character in Boruto‘s manga thus far. And, what’s more, the ninja is the child of Orochimaru.
That’s right. The snake sannin has a son. Well, sort of.
In true Orochimaru fashion, Mitsuki was not born through conventional means. The ninja is a synthetic human cloned from the embryo of one of Orochimaru’s previous ‘Mitsuki’ projects. After six tries, the creepy villain managed to get things right with Mitsuki, but the younger boy wanted freedom. In the manga, Orochimaru seems to let the boy go, but the villain really orchestrates everything. He plants a gift on Mitsuki which leads him to seek out Boruto, and the snake sannin will surely want Naruto’s eldest child to help sharpen his son’s gifts.
This will not be the first time fans meet Mitsuki in the world of anime. The character was featured in Boruto: Naruto The Movie as Mitsuki is eventually placed on Boruto’s genin squad with Sarada Uchiha.
