Code Geass fans, it looks like 2017 is already shaping up to be a good one for the franchise. The anime has been on hiatus for some time as two main seasons aired years ago. Aside from an OVA series, Code Geass has kept quiet, but that is soon about to change. Last November, Sunrise confirmed it was working on a brand-new Code Geass anime series. The project titled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection will be a direct sequel to the anime's second season, and more information about Code Geass has continued to trickle online.

Thanks to one fan, a script for an unreleased episode of Code Geass has now hit the Internet. Tumblr user @rainfall_tumbles was able to post the translated script online after it was included in the collector's Blu-ray of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion 2 back in 2015.

The episode, which is title "Eye of the Demon Emperor," gives fans a new-look at what could have happen in the second series. When the script was first written, the episode was intended to be the premiere for the new show, but those plans were eventually scrapped. Oukouchi Ichirou wrote the script back in February 2006, and it is set directly after the finale of the first Code Geass anime.

Ultimately, the script was scrapped because of the anime's change in time-slot. After the first series aired, the second was given an earlier spot to run on Sundays. The studio feared a brand-new audience would find the new series given its earlier slot, and those viewers would not be able to connect with a premiere based directly after the first season's finale. As such, Code Geass' second series chose to overhaul its premiere with a time-skip and abandoned the following story.

As such, much of the original story for "Eye of the Demon Emperor" was changed. Everything Lelouch being brainwashed and having Rolo follow him was altered. And, to the delight of fans, Suzaku and Euphy play a bigger role in the premiere.

If you have not caught up on all things Code Geass, then you still have time. The series is a long one, but it's a well-received one. Aside from the first two seasons, there is another spin-off OVA series which fans were gifted recently. Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is a five-part miniseries that takes place between the two full seasons. Funimation has plans to release the OVA series on home video early next year, so fans will be able to binge it before Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection rears its head.
