You may not have thought it would work, but Cowboy Bebop seems to mash-up quite well with The Fairly OddParents. The stage fusion isn’t one anime fans would immediately think of but Butch Hartman isn’t any old fan. The beloved animator knows just how to make anime work with his Nickelodeon style, and fans can’t bring themselves to disagree.

Over on Twitter, Hartman had fans thinking hard when he shared artwork he did of Cowboy Bebop and The Fairly OddParents. The artist drew Spike Spiegel as a cartoonish member of his hit Nickelodeon series, but the guy wasn’t the only cowboy to be found. No, Cosmo also dressed up for the occasion, and the fairy godparent wore the cowboy boots to prove it.
The artwork, which can be seen below, shows off Hartman’s so-called “Cosboy Beebop” style in full glory. Fans of the two shows are buzzing about the unexpected mash-up, but anime lovers cannot say they are too surprised. After all, Hartman is a vetted member of the otaku community.
In recent weeks, Hartman has dug deep into his anime roots and shared a series of crossover sketches of his. The animator posted works combining The Fairly OddParents with iconic anime franchises like Hunter x Hunter, Attack on Titan, and more.
Earlier this year, Hartman even teamed up with Crunchyroll to give The Fairly OddParents a full-on anime makeover. The artist did an anime-style imagining of Timmy Turner and his fairy godparent comrades taking on Mr. Crocker. The fight paid homage to classic series like Dragon Ball, and Hartman told fans he took on the crossover because he is a big fan of the anime industry.
For this crossover in particular, Cowboy Bebop fans were quick to point out a pre-existing connection between Hartman’s show and the anime. The Fairly OddParents has had actor Daran Norris work as the voice of characters like Cosmo and Mr. Turner for sometime. The voice actor will be familiar to Cowboy Bebop lovers as Norris played Andy in the anime, and he’s also taken part in series like Fist of the North Star and Naruto.
