Disney’s The Owl House Returns (But Not How You’d Expect)

Disney might have expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars, but the company has had quite a few original stories that helped elevate the company with fans. Original animated series like Gravity Falls and Amphibia have become fan-favorites, offering unique storytelling that houses rich characterization and wild scenarios along the way. Another beloved Disney series has been The Owl House, and despite Dana Terrace’s property ending with season three, the series has continued in such a way that many might not see it coming.

Recently, several of the characters from The Owl House made a comeback in the family-friendly series known as Chibi Tiny Tales. If you haven’t heard of this unique crossover series made for a younger audience, you might be surprised to learn that it has spanned six seasons with over one hundred and twenty-six episodes to its name. While hardly a true sequel to the original Owl House, the series has presented crossovers with this world and the likes of DuckTales, Gravity Falls, Moana, Phineas and Ferb, and many more. In this recent short, Terrace’s characters have a meet-up with the characters of Kiff, and you can watch the short below.

The Owl House Returns

While Eda Clawthorne might make a comeback via her pint-sized chibi form, don’t expect the witch to make a comeback in an official sequel to the original Owl House series. In 2024, the show’s creator Dana Terrace took to social media to confirm that not only were there no plans for a fourth season of the series, but that she didn’t feel the need to revisit the universe, “Besides, I don’t want a [The Owl House Season 4]. I don’t want to ‘redo’ anything or make my whole career centered around one show idea. But hey, if that ever changes you’d hear it straight from me not someone trying to get views on tiktok.”

The idea of Owl House making a comeback is made all the more unlikely thanks to Terrace devoting her time to a new, completely original idea, Knights of Guinevere. Earlier this month, Dana released a pilot episode for a property that is far darker than the one that introduced us to Eda and her supernatural colleagues. Focusing on far more mature themes and imagery, we can’t imagine this pilot being picked up by Disney, but it certainly has garnered plenty of views on YouTube to make the argument that it will get its own series. Here’s the official description for Knights of Guinevere,

Knights of Guinevere is a psychological thriller set in the far future that welcomes you to a planet-wide amusement park in the clouds!… And the shadows beneath it, where a broken Princess Android might be two dreamers’ tickets to better lives, or the end of them.”
