When it comes to Dragon Ball Super, Goku refuses to let anyone take his spotlight. If Vegeta learns how to go Super Saiyan God, then Goku will find a way to go Super Saiyan Blue. When Krillin gets a power-up, then the Saiyan has to as well – and it looks like Goku has since stolen a technique straight from his friend’s book.

This weekend, Dragon Ball Super will return for its 98th episode, but its preview already has fans buzzing about Goku. Not only is the Saiyan knee-deep into his first Tournament of Power skirmishes, but the episode preview shows Goku using some rather strange ki. As seen in the picture below, Goku is shown in the preview with an electric outline of white ki tracing his body, and fans are wondering what the power could be.

Luckily, a few Dragon Ball fans are stepping in to fill in fans on the technique. Goku isn’t the first person to use the updated ki move as Krillin debuted it in Dragon Ball Super‘s 76th episode. During that episode, Goku and Krillin saw themselves seemingly stuck in Hell fighting their old nemeses, and the human warrior tapped into his ki reserves when pushed into a corner. Fans watched as Krillin distilled his ki into a visible shield that surrounded him in the same way a Super Saiyan aura takes over Goku. And, now, the Saiyan looks poised to borrow one of Krillin’s moves for himself.

The Dragon Ball Super preview shows Goku sparring with Bergamo while in his base form. The ki layer powers up the hero without making him waste precious energy going Super Saiyan. The anime‘s most recent episode saw Goku stress how little he wanted to use forms like SSB before his most powerful competitors could step to him. And, as fans expected, Goku doesn’t think Universe 9 is worth wasting his full potential on.
