'Dragon Ball Super' Reveals Goku and Goku Black's First Fight

The English language broadcast of Dragon Ball Super is starting the Future Trunks arc, and many of the arc's most fan favorited events are underway. The latest episode featured a big moment as well, as Goku and Goku Black met for the first time, and of course, fought.

Fans have been wanting to see how Goku Black matched up to the present Goku, and during their fight several revelations came to a head.

When Goku Black appears through a time rift, Future Trunks tries to challenge him first. Vegeta stops him saying he isn't strong enough, and while Vegeta's distracted Goku goes in to fight himself. Goku Black says he can't wait to test out his body on the original, and begins to fight Goku.

Naturally the two are neck and neck, as Goku's holding back while gauging Black's power. Black seems to be an oppressive force, however, as many of his attacks do break through Goku's defenses. After Goku gets the better of Black, Black says it's fine because his wounds will make him stronger (as Saiyans are want to do).

Before the two of them can settle their fight, however, Goku Black is sucked back through the time rift that brought him there. But in the meantime, Black learns of Trunks' time machine and destroys it. Black, in the future timeline, knows that he will indeed get stronger and vows to find a way to kill Trunks for good.

Since Goku has yet to show Black his true power, not even going Super Saiyan 2 in the fight, now fans are wondering exactly how the rematch will go when both Gokus go all out.

But in the fight, Goku learns that Black isn't exactly like him as Black keeps talking like Goku is a separate being from himself. But Goku was just happy to fight someone with the same face.

DragonBall Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturday evenings at 7:15 p.m. CST. Adult Swim airs the English dub during its Toonami block Saturday evenings at 9:30 p.m, and is now available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon Video.

If you want to catch up with the English dub, the first 39 episodes of Dragon Ball Super are now available to stream on FunimationNOW, Crunchyroll's VRV service, and available to purchase on Amazon Video. The 39 episodes span the full range of what has aired in the North America and covers the "Battle of Gods" arc, "Revival of F" arc, and the most recently ended "Universe 6" arc.

Funimation has previously announced the rest of the series will soon be available on the service as well. Releasing in 13 episode batches two weeks after the last episode airs on Cartoon Network, fans of Dragon Ball Super's English dub without a cable connection will soon have a way to experience the series.

There is also currently a new Dragon Ball film in the works for 2018. The film will focus on the Saiyans, the "origins of Goku's power," and potentially the story of the very first Super Saiyan God. Not only does it aim to be the best film in the series, original creator Akira Toriyama will be contributing to the film's script and new character designs.
