When it comes to Dragon Ball, fans are used to looking at its manga as the source of all things canon. Things switched up when Dragon Ball Super premiered as Toriyama began giving outlines to both its anime and manga. For some, Shueisha's take on Dragon Ball Super is the one that reigns supreme. So, fans can understand why the most recent chapter of Dragon Ball Super prompted some to panic.

If you have looked over the 29th chapter of Dragon Ball Super, then you will know it follows Goku as the Saiyan fight his exhibition match with Toppo. The anime covered the spar as well as Goku fought Bergamo; Toppo chose to challenge Goku as the Universe 11 warrior thought the Saiyan was evil for initiating the Tournament of Power.

After Toppo began fighting Goku in the anime, the pair got intense fast. The Pride Trooper managed to overwhelmed Super Saiyan Goku very quickly, but the fighter's Super Saiyan Blue transformation made the man pause. Toppo got angry when SSB Goku damaged his uniform, and the pair powered up to fight all out. However, the Grand Priest halted the fight before it could continue.

In the manga, the skirmish goes very differently. The exhibition match moves more slowly as Goku shows off each of the Super Saiyan transformations. By the end, Goku only goes so far to whip out his Super Saiyan God form, but Toppo manages to take the hero down with a well-placed kick. The Universe 11 fighter wins the match outright by knocking Goku out of bounds.

"Son Goku is out-of-bounds," the Grand Priest confirms. "The winner of this battle is Toppo!"

On the sidelines, Beerus freaks out over his student's loss, but Goku just laughs it off. Toppo then approaches the Saiyan and tells him about Jiren of Universe 11, a revelation which ends the chapter on a cliffhanger.

With the manga coming after the Dragon Ball Super anime, it is natural for there to be some changes and additions made. The franchise's latest chapter added on to a major match to give fans a better look at Toppo's fighting style. As the manga continues, readers can look forward to learning more about the 'Universal Survival' arc, and those details may reveal some interesting notes about Goku and his growth.
