Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel Could Get an Anime of Its Own (And Here Is Why)

It’s been about a year since Jujutsu Kaisen‘s manga ended, and with Season 3 still a long way from releasing, it’s definitely been a rough time for fans wanting more of the series. Fortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen’s creator, Gege Akutami, just surprised fans with a sequel titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and it seems like Shueisha may already have high hopes for the series and plans to eventually give it an anime of its own.

As indicated on Chizai Watch, Shueisha recently filed a trademark for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo on September 1st, 2025, which was just approved on the 9th. The trademark has been filed under Classes 9, 16, 25, 28, and 41, covering not only various types of merchandise but also “animation cels, graphic reproductions, CDs, DVDs, recorded media, and video files containing animation content.” While nothing has been confirmed so far, the trademark filing does hint at Shueisha at least intending to do more with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo down the line, should it continue to maintain its debut success.

Considering just how popular and successful Jujutsu Kaisen has become across the globe, it only makes sense that Shonen Jump’s publisher, Shueisha, would see potential in the new sequel manga to grow into a multimedia franchise as well. Even with just one chapter, Modulo has already become the hottest series on Manga Plus, amassing over 430 thousand views.

As such, even if the trademarks may not be much to go off, they’re still a very promising indicator, especially considering how many other series have previously followed a similar pattern. To be exact, Shueisha filed similar trademarks for both Kagurabachi and Kill Blue, and while it took some time, both of these series are indeed getting an anime, with CygamesPictures reportedly working on Kagurabachi while Kill Blue officially announced an anime coming in 2026 just last week.

All that said, it will certainly take a long time for Modulo to officially announce an anime, as not only does the sequel first need to publish more chapters, but MAPPA also first needs to finish adapting Jujutsu Kaisen itself. Considering how it’s been about 2 years since Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen finished airing and Season 3 is coming out in Winter 2026, it may take anywhere between five to six years for MAPPA to fully adapt the series, that is, assuming the series can be wrapped up within four seasons. On the bright side, however, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo will likely have wrapped up its run by then, making it ripe for an anime adaptation.
